Nations’ Colors are Nation’s pride Flag hosting ceremony in Wagha Border
Wagha border is at about one hour drive from Lahore towards East on Canal Road. It’s a border town bridging the line between Pakistan and India, 29 km from the town of Lahore on the Pakistani side and 27 km from Amritsar on the Indian side. This is the only crossing point between Pakistan and India that is regularly open to foreigners.
Every morning and evening there is an interesting activity that takes place at wagha border when the security forces of both bordering countries performs a thrilling parade. Then they end up this parade by flag hosting and flag lowering ceremony. So you can’t miss this amazing experience during the border opening in the morning or during the border closure in the evening.
PTDC’s motel at Wagha serves day and night as an important transit and entry point for tourists and passengers traveling on both sides of the border. Apart from comfortable rooms, the motel comprises of sitting room, TV lounge and a restaurant.
‘’A full of emotion roller-coaster ride’’.
So first things first. One has to reach here at least 3 hours in advance in order to get seats on the first row on the ground level. Because a massive crowd gathered at every evening to get this experience.
It's quite the experience the first time one goes there. For sure. The passion for your country is overwhelming not only for the Pakistani’s but also the stand full for international visitors who make a beeline for this place daily.
The ceremony is entertaining and fun to watch. But I Probably wouldn't recommend July as it was ridiculously hot and people were getting heat stroke.
