14th August, A Long Weekend - Where Are You Planning To Go?

By Bilal, published on 5 August, 2015.

This life is getting too hectic, and we always find time to have fun. When the weekend arrives, we plan to go out with friends or family. But, most of the times, we stay in our own towns, as we have less days to plan a pretty good 2 or 3 days trip. But not the next weekend i.e. the second week of August 2015. This year, luckily, 14th August is arriving on the fifth day of the week i.e. Friday. And if Saturdays are off in your organization, you will have a 3 days off, yuppie.

3 days, you don’t want to stay in or in town. So why not plan something exciting the coming weekend.

If you live in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, you don’t have many options within the city, but around you, you can come up with a pretty long list. Starting with the very best options, I have extracted the following:

Swat

Malam Jaba

The province of KPK is blessed with a large number of scenic locations. Among these Swat is also the one. A few years earlier, Swat started losing its value as of the terrorists’ activities. But thanks to the Pak Army, it has revived again. Swat is again one of the top loved places for nature-lovers.

The shortest route to Swat from Faizabad, Rawalpindi is near about 350km, and the time required is around 6 hours. The other route is about 400km, and will take around 8 Hours to reach the destination. Again, don’t forget to add at least a couple of hours to this time.

Naran and Kaghan

Saif-ul-Maluk Lake

In the district of Mansehra, we have a scenic valley, the Kaghan Valley. And in the heart of the Kaghan Valley, lies Naran (a medium-sized town). Naran and Kaghan are one of the top-most crowded and tourist attractive places of the district Mansehra.

The shortest way to Naran is around 260km, and the other will take around 270km from Faizabad, Rawalpindi. According to Google Maps, it would take you around 5 h 30 min to reach Naran, choosing any of the two routes. But it is merely an estimate. It is better if you add 2-3 hours to this time, as it is a mountainous area, and you can’t just really the artificial intelligence.

Taking the highway route N75, the distance from Faizabad, Rawalpindi is around 140 km. and as described by the Google Maps, the time to reach this picturesque location is 3 hours and 18 mins. But people say it would take more than 6 hours to reach the location.

Plan Your Trip

Plan a Trip

There are a whole bunch of options to stay in these top 3 locations. These are some of the top visited hotels. But it is better to make a good research before booking room(s). The expense will vary depending on the class of the hotel and the season. Summers costs you the highest and winters the lowest.

Now that you have 3 sight-seeing locations, and you also have a good idea about the distance, the time and stay in options, where would you plan to spend the weekend i.e. 14, 15 and 16 of August?

Word of advice

Things to pack for a trip

Wherever you are planning to go, don’t forget to pack your bags with warm clothes, boots or joggers, caps, and gloves. And don’t forget to take your camera with you.

Bring happy moments with you, and don’t forget to share your views about the trip. Have a safe and sound journey!
